LIONEL PODCAST: Terronoia, Model Planes, C4 & The Pentagon Again? Plus Anwar al-Awlaki is Killed. Again! BWAHAHA!

U.S. born Rezwan Ferdaus, from terrorist central Ashland, Massachusetts, was duped into thinking a harmless substance provided by the FBI undercover types was C-4 plastic explosives. They also gave Ferdaus six AK-47 assault rifles and three grenades, none which worked. Yet another schmuck brought down by G-men. He joins a veritable rogues gallery of dupes, dorks, rubes and fools who just can’t seem to get the terrorist act together. Note also how he plays into the newest theme of home-grown, American jihadis. Pay very close and particular attention to that.

With a straight face CBS news reported the following.

This undated photo released Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 by the U.S. Department of Justice shows a large remote controlled aircraft similar to what the department said suspect Rezwan Ferdaus plotted to fill with C-4 plastic explosives to use in an attack of the Pentagon and U.S. Capital. Ferdaus of Ashland, Mass., was arrested in a federal sting operation Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 in Framingham, Mass. (AP Photo/U.S. Department of Justice)

Puh-leeze. They also noted that experts and “model-aircraft hobbyists said it would be nearly impossible to inflict large-scale damage of the sort Ferdaus allegedly envisioned using model planes.” The toy planes are too small, have no payloads, can’t carry enough explosives and are too tricky to fly. Gee, d’ya think?

And to make things even more interesting al Qaeda bogeyman, the American-born Anwar al-Awlaki is reported to have been killed. Again since the first time he was killed in 2009 as a host of sources including the always accurate and fact-checked Fox News reported. Ron Paul and the ACLU each condemned the United States’ killing of the mysterious al-Awlaki, an American who’s never been so much as charged with any crime. Details, details.

You won’t hear Ted Baxter talking much about this much nor will he even venture an opinion as to the jurisdiction POTUS has for targeting an American citizen for assassination. If it happened. Again.

Lionel: I watch you regularly on WPIX and enjoy your work.

David Halberstam, a noted author, was surveilled for many years ( see attached).

The media has pretty muched ignored the story. Wouldn’t you think the media should have been up in arms over this abridgement

    of freedom?

Also, don’t you think that the media should be interested in the number and extent of current surveillences. Not just the cost but the level of harassment of American citizens and their families may be extensive.

I believe that after a couple of years of surveillence, a citizen has either not performed the suspected behavior or has ceased the practice. Either way, continued surveillence is in most cases a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Fraud, Waste and Abuse Statutes were designed to combat waste. Shouldn’t they be applied?

How do we, as a country, get a handle on this? I have good reason to believe that the currrent level of extended surveillence is eztensive.
