LIONEL PODCAST: Legalize Marijuana. Just Don’t Use It.

According to the ACLU’s original analysis, marijuana arrests now account for over half of all drug arrests in the United States. Of the 8.2 million marijuana arrests between 2001 and 2010, 88% were for simply having marijuana. Nationwide, the arrest data revealed one consistent trend: significant racial bias. Despite roughly equal usage rates, Blacks are 3.73 times more likely than whites to be arrested for marijuana.

Legalize it; just don’t use it. The psychoactive potency of today’s marijuana is without peer. Nothing that you might recall from the halcyon days of yore compares to the style, variety and THC-concentrations of today’s hybridized, specialized and GMO’d cannabis. And while it makes no sense whatsoever to arrest and incarcerate those in mere possession of any drug, much less marijuana, ruining users’ lives, tattooing them with arrest and criminal records and destroying futures and employment and education chances — in no way should the young, in particular, avail themselves of this serious substance, especially when their brains don’t stop developing until the age of 25. Fine neuronal circuitry and synapses are easily prone to being gummed up by today’s industrial brain slayers. Imagine a generation of Spicolis.

And after years of Reefer Madness hysteria and distorted truth and blatant lies, from years of Madame Reagan’s just say no drivel to the historic racist antecedents of Hearst and his bitch Anslinger to the DuPonts and their fear of hemp destroying the synthetics market, we’ve been subject to one lie after another. Is it any wonder no one believes anyone who has anything to say about chronic drug use?

So, legalize all drugs; but don’t use them.
