LIONEL PODCAST: Russia Clobbers ISIS in Syria. So Where’s the Applause?

So where’re the applause and parades? Yesterday marked a major and dramatic shift by all accounts in the fight against the international cancer called terrorism with ISIS targeted in Syria.  It opened the path towards an eventual peace in the Middle East, the world prays. Russian fighter jets launched 20 sorties over Syria yesterday, destroying at least eight terrorist targets with surgical strikes. According to the London Daily Telegraph, the strikes also destroyed ISIS ammunition, fuel, command posts and communication centers. Unlike the war plan of various coalitions, which included limited air raids against ISIS that were ultimately proven to be pathetically ineffective, these strikes by Russia were announced as being coordinated with the legitimate Assad government of Syria. That is, by invitation. The Russian-Syrian attacks represent the beginning of a cooperative effort to destroy terrorism in the Middle East.

A new era in international politics is emerging as Russia comes into the Middle East theater for the first time in decades. For the second day in a row, Russian jets struck terrorist targets in northwest Syria, hitting the areas of Jisr al-Shughour and Jabal al-Zawiya. These two areas have been under the control of Jaish al-Fatah, the Army of Conquest, which includes factions of al-Nusra and is thus a wing of al-Qaeda. The Syrian Al-Fatah is technically on the US list of terrorist organizations, yet it is being supported by Turkey and Qatar, allegedly members of the US led anti-ISIS coalition. [1] The message of the NATO nations now appears to be that all attacks against ISIS are acceptable, but all attacks against al-Qaeda are abhorrent. The idea of the US shielding al-Qaeda will undoubtedly come as a surprise to the three thousand US victim’s families who have been made to believe that al-Qaeda was responsible for the attacks of 9/11. [TWP/UFAA]

McCain’s view. But that’s not the way others see it. Senator John McCain said that he could “absolutely confirm” that Russian air strikes had hit Free Syrian Army rebels who had been armed and trained and supported by the US. “Their initial strikes were against the individuals and groups that have been funded and trained by our CIA in an incredible flaunting of any kind of co-operation or effort to conceal what Putin’s first priority is, and that is of course to prop up Bashar al-Assad,” Mr McCain told CNN. Now, remember, logic would militate against Assad embracing any factions or coalitions whose sole goal was his dispatched elimination.

Propping up an ally. Imagine that? How many Americans have forgotten that, like it or not, Russia and Syria ave been committed allies for decades since the days of Assad’s old man. Without a mention of history all of this seems so, well, nefarious. When in fact, it’s called history. And shouldn’t we applaud the ablation of ISIS no matter who’s the “surgeon”?

And what sayeth the media? You can only imagine.

LIONEL PODCAST: The United States of Misinformed, Addicted, Clueless, Biased, Uninformed, Addled, Chastened, Hateful, Frightened But Proud

The truth can be cruel.  You know it to be true.

Celebrating the 101st birthday of “The World’s Foremost Authority,” the ineffable Profesor Irwin Corey.

LIONEL PODCAST: We Invade Countries And Kill Leaders For Their Water As Much As Their Oil

The Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System is the world’s largest known fossil water aquifer system. It is located underground in the Eastern end of the Sahara Desert. Gaddafi had invested $25B into the aquifer, which he announced had the potential to turn Libya that is 95 percent desert into an arable and fertile oasis. You know how that ended.

California’s nothing. California Goober Jerry Brown this week ordered mandatory water reductions for the first time ever in California’s history, citing the state’s four-year drought crisis after a winter of record-low snowfalls. This is nothing compared to what’s in store. I’ve written about this and have been most outspoken. In September of last year I penned the following tour de force, ’twas hailed by critics! I commend it to you herewith.

LIONEL PODCAST: ISIS-SCHMISIS! Unearthing the Sordid History of the American Nightmare and Welcome to Hydro-Imperialism

What it’s like to die from dehydration. This depiction from the documentary Blue Gold: World Water Wars.

“In 1906, Pablo Valencia, dared the journey from Mexico to California in search of gold. He survived without water for a week, seven days. He was rescued and documented the experience of thirst. Saliva becomes thick. The tongue swells so large that it squeezes past the jaws. The throat so swollen that breathing becomes difficult creating a terrifying sense of asphyxiation. The face feels full due to the shrinking of the skin. Many people begin to hallucinate. The eyelids red, the eyeballs begin to weep tears of blood. When Pablo Valencia was found, his skin was like purplish grey leather, scratched but with no traces of blood. His lips were disappeared as if squished and contriturated. His nose was at so hard its length. His eyes trapped in an insensate stare. This is not a film about saving the environment, it’s a film about saving ourselves, because whatever one’s environmental, political or religious opinions, whatever one’s race, sex or economic standing, whoever of us goes without water for a week, cries blood.”

Recalibrating the notion of right. Let me review a few things. First, we are in the third wave of colonialism. The first two saw gold and petro-imperailsm as its goals and now it’s hydrology and hydro-imperialism. There is no way to find alternatives to water and hydration. The human body is funny that way. And Mama Nature has steadfastly announced  that the supply of the world’s water is necessarily limited and fixed, this despite the fact that demand is rising as the world’s exploding and burgeoning population increases without surcease. (Unless the eugenicists have a crack at changing that.)

Another commodity to seize, another vehicle of imperialism. By 2030 climate vicissitudes, population growth, critical pollution, deforestation and rampant urbanization will multiply to such an extent that the demand for water globally is estimated to outstrip supply by 40%! There are no stopgap measures available, as you may have noticed. Keep in mind also that as a dutiful and unquestioning mainstream media sign off on each and every military adventure allegedly caused by the terrorist bad guy du jour, the real reason for hostilities, the real casus belli will be water.

The current Chairman and former CEO of Nestlé, the largest producer of food products in the world, believes that the answer to global water issues is privatization. This statement is on record from the wonderful company that has peddled junk food in the Amazon, has invested money to thwart the labeling of GMO-filled products, has a disturbing health and ethics record for its infant formula, and has deployed a cyber army to monitor Internet criticism and shape discussions in social media. [Global Research December 2013]

Right? What right? Increasingly, for water to be useful, it needs to be mined, processed, packaged, and transported, just like gold, coal, gas or oil. Unlike oil, there are no substitutes, alternatives or stopgaps for water. And with that come inordinate and incomprehensible potentials for mind-blowing profit. This is a marvelous treatise I commend to you.

“Water, water, everywhere,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, everywhere,
Nor any drop to drink.”

Samuel Taylor Coleridge, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

According to the U.S.-based Center for Public Integrity, Western nations stand to make up to a US$1 trillion from privatizing, purifying and distributing water in a region where water often sells for far more than oil.

Although over two thirds of our planet is water, we face an acute shortage. This scarcity flies in the face of our natural assumptions. The problem is that 97 percent is salt water. Great for fish, not so good for humans. Of the world’s fresh water, only one percent is available for drinking, with the remaining two percent trapped in glaciers and ice.

Put differently: if all the water on earth was represented by an 11-litre jug, the freshwater would fill a single cup, and we can only access the last drop.

LIONEL PODCAST: No More War!

In war, truth is the first casualty. (Aeschylus)

Harken back to Sailor John’s words. On April 22nd, 1971, a then 27 year-old former Navy Lt. John Kerry (with a noticeable Brahmin accent) testified against U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War as a member of “Vietnam Veterans Against the War,” which would later come back to haunt him when “swiftboated.” This is the same John Kerry who later would endorse virtually every American military action, save that of Iran. The message is poignant. Herein I play for you the earnest message of this warrior who details firsthand the folly of war and explains brilliantly the insanity of the Vietnam mentality. Yet this is the same John Kerry who demanded military intervention in Syria to topple an evil regime whose alleged gassing of innocents at Ghouta. Remember what Semour Hersh wrote about this ruse. Where was the professional left then, the Jurassic media? They pore over every word Bill O’Reilly has uttered as to his war reportage as well as Brian Williams’ fecund imagination, they report of dress colors and llamas and Tom Brady’s balls, but when it comes to this whopper, not a peep. Nada! But read Hersh’s damning indictment.

One high-level intelligence officer, in an email to a colleague, called the administration’s assurances of Assad’s responsibility a ‘ruse’. The attack ‘was not the result of the current regime’, he wrote. A former senior intelligence official told me that the Obama administration had altered the available information – in terms of its timing and sequence – to enable the president and his advisers to make intelligence retrieved days after the attack look as if it had been picked up and analysed in real time, as the attack was happening. The distortion, he said, reminded him of the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin incident, when the Johnson administration reversed the sequence of National Security Agency intercepts to justify one of the early bombings of North Vietnam. The same official said there was immense frustration inside the military and intelligence bureaucracy: ‘The guys are throwing their hands in the air and saying, “How can we help this guy” – Obama – “when he and his cronies in the White House make up the intelligence as they go along?”’ [e.s.]

Hear not my heart. Throughout the rhetoric and the Sturm und Drang over the notion of retaliation and war there seems to be completely forgotten from the calculus of reason that we are still talking about war as in death and destruction and broken families and PTSD and shattered dreams and destroyed futures. The currency of war is bloodshed. And somehow that horrible fact has been lost among the rhetoric, the fleeting and minimally derived thought process via the Twitter glyph.

Think tank choreography. In this podcast I reference the 2009 Brookings Institution’s paper that provides the script for war. You’ll find the language most disconcerting and, sadly, prescient. And notice as well the language and that peculiarly reminiscent and familiar phrasing: “A New American Strategy.” Cf. Project for the New American Century. And, interestingly enough, the site has been scrubbed. It all comes full circle. But the neoconservative ideology is bigger and bolder than ever. You may have thought we lost that ilk for a generation. Hardly.

Give us a minute and we’ll give you a war. As a tangential note, I commend to you another think tank that you should be aware of: The Institute for the Study of War. Research the spousal unit Kagan, husband et ux., as well as RAND, Ford Foundation and Aspen Institute. Think not for a moment that the architecture of American bellicosity is drafted in the Congress and Oval Office alone. Or the Pentagon, for that matter. War’s big business whose ideology and theology are outsourced. The power of these war orchestras is enormous. But also learn and be apprized of the fact that whether it’s Israel, Iran, the US or any country as to any aggression theater, the script and memes must be crafted first. People have to have the playbook spelled out correctly and carefully.

War as a theme. I discuss the thematic aspects of engagement and further attempt to demystify and un-romanticize the theme of conflict. This is beyond the issue of Israel or the left-right paradigm. Lost in the discussion is the reality of what this means. War. And with war is the inevitable and most certain replay of the horrible scene depicted and chronicled above. As British historian and journalist A. J. P. Taylor noted, “No matter what political reasons are given for war, the underlying reason is always economic.”

LIONEL PODCAST: My Interview With A Bona Fide Genius

358f81d39fded9311d0b23a69a8c29eb.wix_mp_1024

Cary Harrison is a genius. Not an exaggeration. Not hyperbole or a well-intended, polite compliment. No unwarranted magnification, puffery or grandiosity here. But there’s more. And he’s more.

He’s a raconteur, radio performer, TV host and American information treasure.

As Henry van Dyke said, “Genius is talent set on fire by courage.” And if you’re in this here alternative news and interpretation biz, you’d better have beaucoup courage and a pair of elephantine, gargantuan,  and Brobdingnagian bawls. All of which, he’s ably and sufficiently possessed.

Enjoy this. Two great friends looking and laughing at the world through the peculiar prism of unmitigated temerity and the aforementioned bawls.

LIONEL PODCAST: There Are Flying Saucers

“There is no doubt in my mind, after 37 years of study and investigation that the evidence is overwhelming that planet Earth is being visited by intelligently controlled vehicles whose origin is extraterrestrial. There are no acceptable arguments against flying saucer reality, only people who either haven’t studied the relevant data or have a strong will not to believe that Earth is at the bottom of the heap sociologically and technologically in our local galactic neighborhood.” — Stanton Friedman, The Case for the Extraterrestrial Origin of Flying Saucers, 1995

It is not subject to debate. The data are everywhere.

“The evidence is overwhelming that the Earth is being visited by intelligently controlled vehicles from off the Earth.”

“There are no good arguments to be made against the conclusion that some UFOs are intelligently controlled vehicles from off the Earth.  Some skeptics may be well intentioned, but they are almost always ignorant of the significant scientific data indicating UFO reality.  They read the newspapers but not the solid information.  They are unaware of the myriad landing-trace cases, the multitude of “critter” reports and Earthling abductions, the numerous large-scale scientific collections of data, the many published scientific studies indicating that trips to nearby stars in our galactic neighborhood are already feasible without violating the laws of physics or invoking science fiction techniques.”

Stanton Friedman, nuclear physicist, premier Ufologist and leading UFO researcher, author of several books and numerous articles on UFOs.

I can think of nothing more fascinating and truly awesome! than the notion of life forms vastly superior to those (us) who think they’re vastly superior, swimming about the multiverse, multidimensionally and anti-gravitically, at inconceivable speeds, surrounded and pillowed by their self-contained personal gravity and inertia fields, destroying our hard-wired notions of space travel absolutes. And it’s been going on since man first slogged from the bog.

Think if it this way. Mother Earth is 4.5B years old. Or 4500M years old. If another planet were 4501M years, they’d have a Mil on us. From 1903 to 1969 we went from Kitty Hawk and the Brothers Wright to Neil Armstrong and his small step for man. In 66 years! Think what a planet can do with 1000 millennia under its belt.

LIONEL PODCAST: America Needs to Grow a Huge Set of C.O. Jones

We’ve become impuissant. Castrated. Geldings the lot of us. Orchiectomied invertebrates. No hits, no runs, no errors. Play it safe. Watch what you say. Get along, move along. Curse the maverick. Chide the revolutionary. Don’t make waves. Pray, be obsequious and obeisant. Be scared and timorous. And vote. Pretend it matters. Know your shibboleths and pat, trite phrases. Disregard history, make it up as you go. Learn the two sides of the coin. The left-right paradigm. The illusion of choice. The perception of option. Your lone voice matters, right? Watch what you say. Offend no one. Blessed be the troublemakers. Here’s to you, Ms. Rivers. You inspire pissed off in so many colors. Join the ranks of Messrs. Bruce, Carlin, Gregory and Hicks. Just don’t bother us. Leave us to our Facebook where we chronicle our oblivion and tag the unsuspecting hostages. Leave us alone on Labor Day to barbecue our charred carcinogenic animal carcasses and flesh slabs. Let us bake melanomas into our flesh. Just leave us alone. We’re busy being busy. “Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking.” (Albert “Big Al” Einstein)

LIONEL PODCAST: We’re Living In The Twilight Zone

Barney Fife: “All I’m saying is that there are some things beyond the ken of mortal man that shouldn’t be tampered with. We don’t know everything, Andy. There’s plenty goin’ on right now in the Twilight Zone that we don’t know anything about and I think we oughta stay clear.” “The Andy Griffith Show: The Haunted House (#4.2)” (1963)

Adios, Sheriff Andy. I’ll take Barney over this growing crop of lunatics any day of the week. And I’m tired of hearing the cop apologists weigh in with their drivel about how we citizens don’t understand the necessity of gunning gown the innocent every now and then. I’m a lawyer yet I understand the frustrations people have with the profession. I’m not an apologist. I dig their perspective. I understand the horrors you’ve experienced in the system. I don’t bore you with stories of how you’re unable to understand the big picture or that your take on jurisprudence is de minimis because you’re a civilian. Cops had better wake up, especially their superiors. Because there are more of us than you. You work for us. You’re a public servant. A peace officer. When we insult you or fail to evince the proper scared fealty to you, you have to do what we do. Live with it or join the military which is really what you seem to want to be. A soldier versus a law enforcement professional.

LIONEL PODCAST: Help Me Save Our Country

“My fake plants died because I did not pretend to water them.” Mitch Hedberg

My simple formula. First and foremost you must vow never to listen, read and/or view anything American as to news for a month. No American mainstream Ted Baxter media. Period.

Next, use the greatest invention of all time the Internet and scour the world for foreign and alternative media, blogs, opinion, anything. And don’t ask where to start. Just start.

Next, reset your values as to what’s best for you and the country. Better yet, take conventional wisdom. And destroy it. Eschew any ideology with a name.

And finally: Think for yourself yourself. Critically think. And that should get you started.

An Open Letter to My Facebook Friends

Entitleist

I penned the following to the sincere yet deluded Facebook friends and I thought it’s an idea that should be shared with you, the less-deluded.

If you’re reading this you’re most probably of the belief that there’s a right and a wrong. A good and an evil. It’s Manichaean, apodictic. You’re certain. And you use the word crazy to dismiss those you disagree with. You cannot dissect pearls of truth from anyone you’ve thrown into the do not listen to pile. You’re pigheaded, closed-minded, historically ignorant and you’re only conversant with pop culture politics. You’ve no ideology or core belief. You’re an empty vessel who sports philosophy like the latest cosmetic suturing or blast of emotion-destroying toxin.

If you’re the Fox News type you want to bomb Iraq or Syria or anyplace you’re told houses ISIS, a group you’ve recently learned of but were unaware were beheading Christians. But ignorance is your middle name. You’re unaware that the US and the West and NATO trained them. But when it comes to saber rattling and your my dick’s bigger than yours blather you’re all in. Because you’re tough and right and Murican! You have a flag fetish, support troops in word only. You’re a walking bumper sticker. You’re an echo chamber who thinks the left wing hates freedom or whatever your latest memorized article of faith is.

If you’re the MSNBC type you’re an Obama acolyte. You possess a diluted support of a vacuous progressive agenda that no one has yet to decipher. You hate the right wing and that’s the extent of your ideology. You’ll decry Bush’s bombing a country but will swoon when your beloved Barry takes out a wedding party in Pakistan with a drone. You think the right are uneducated, uncultured Neanderthals.

In conclusion, you’re probably a great friend but l laugh at you behind your back because your politically nescient and organically clueless. Stick to sports or whatever you’re moderately familiar with because when it comes to how the world and country are run, you’re beyond pathetic.

But I love you. Discuss.

Did someone say left-right paradigm?
