“Freedom is the recognition of necessity.” — Friedrich Engels
Prolegomenon and valedictory entwined. While the usual podcasting magic is being retooled and revamped by a host of trained and dedicated media elves to better serve you, let me direct you immediately to sign up and subscribe to my YouTube ChannelLionel Nation. Daily screeds, disquisitions, rants and rails, howls and hoots. Shake your collective fists at the power structures that corrupt and enrage. This is not a drill. It’s a full frontal assault. No prisoners in this war for truth. Here . . . an amuse-bouche to titillate, scintillate and inspire you to salivate.
“Quo usque tandem abutere, Catilina, patientia nostra?” M. CICERONIS TULLI ORATIO IN L. CATILINAM PRIMA
What has happened here is rather obvious. It’s been slow, incremental, glacial. The public’s habituated, humiliated and chastened. Slapped and cajoled, conned and convinced . . . told that news isn’t to be true or real or even factual. Shite happens, Sparky. What are you getting upset over? What’s the big deal? Perhaps it’s a generational thing. We dinosaurs remember a time when the idea of a Cronkite getting shitfaced on New Year’s Eve whilst simultaneously pierced made our souls quiver and quake. And throw in the horrid Washington Compost for good measure. No, this isn’t an accident or happenstance. It’s deliberate, targeted and by design. Enjoy.
Shocking! Cory Jones, a top editor at Playboy, the New York Times reports, “nervously” presented a radical suggestion to Hugh Hefner: the magazine, a leader of the revolution that helped take sex in America from furtive to ubiquitous, should stop publishing images of naked women. Playboy was revolutionary then and can be now by realizing that nudity is ubiquitous and not shocking. Today at least. Listen.
Orwell simply had no idea. “The media is the right arm of anarchy,” thus spake Dan Brown. Can I hear an “Amen!”? They still enjoy cover from the hoary and anachronistic that they and we share concomitantly an interest in news proliferation. Accurate at that.
Controlled diversion. In fact I can think of no better anarchic co-conspirator than today’s news gatherers. In this, today’s audio transmission I compared the “front pages” of the New York Daily News and the New York Post with a very popular alternative news aggregator. The differences could not possibly be more startling and obvious. The mainstream media that we accept as authoritative provides a daily buffet of intellectual junk food. Cerebral poison and imagination killing contaminants. They repeat and do not report.
Hamburger Helper for the soul. They are pop culture generators and serve the front page, bumper sticker, echo chamber, cookie-cutter worldview of denizens of this most complicated social experiment. This, mind you, while they bemoan plummeting viewer and readership numbers. When newsrooms are shattered and institutional tabloids and newspapers are up for sale. Instead of shoring up their resources and making a full-fledged and bona fide commitment to readership culling, calling and attraction, it’s business as usual. More direct. More pablum and bunkum and intellectually void morsels of nothing. Listen to the stories I inform you about that I guarantee you, you will hear nothing about today from those you’ve entrusted to awareness to. And not his well that, as the Google story which I reference illustrates, the sources of institutional censorship will be from platforms and media that are not subject to state control and where allegations of state action would not lie. If Google can rank websites and in effect reject references to a site that it deems not verified, think what this means in the commercial circuitry of free thought. And when you have complicity between private entities and DARPA-like research configurations, it’s very difficult for the civil libertarian to unravel this Gordian knot.
It’s just an expression! Eat your heart out. Not exactly to be taken seriously. Don’t tell this feller. Here’s the July 2013 BBC account of Abu Sakkar, self-styled and admitted cardiophagist. This story can’t get any better, at least in terms of the never-ending and interminable list of horrors, horrible people and horrible behavior. And when you first heard of this — which I trust you did — you might have thought what crazy conspiracy rag did this come from? The BBC. Again, the BBC. Oh, and remember, this is a Syrian rebel commander. The feller’s our Prez pledge renewed fealty to. This is a moderate rebel. This is the FSA. But don’t feel bad if you can’t keep the names straight. IS, ISIS, ISIL, al-Nusra Front, FSA, al Qaeda — theyre all the same.
It sounded like the most far-fetched propaganda claim – a Syrian rebel commander who cut out the heart of a fallen enemy soldier, and ate it before a cheering crowd of his men.
The story turned out to be true in its most important aspect – a ritual demonstration of cannibalism – though when I met the commander, Abu Sakkar, in Syria last week, he seemed hazy on the details.
“I really don’t remember,” he says, when I ask if it was the man’s heart, as reported at the time, or liver, or a piece of lung, as a doctor who saw the video said. He goes on: “I didn’t bite into it. I just held it for show.”
The video says otherwise. It is one of the most gruesome to emerge from Syria’s civil war. In it, Abu Sakkar stands over an enemy corpse, slicing into the flesh.
“It looks like you’re carving him a Valentine’s heart,” says one of his men, raucously. Abu Sakkar picks up a bloody handful of something and declares: “We will eat your hearts and your livers you soldiers of Bashar the dog.”
Then he brings his hand up to his mouth and his lips close around whatever he is holding. At the time the video was released, in May, we rang him and he confirmed to us that he had indeed taken a ritual bite (of a piece of lung, he said).
So, in addition to the aforementioned supra, the latest goings-on anent and regarding Syria, the still very sad and unnecessary death of Joan Rivers, 9/11 revisited, myriad media obfuscations and distractions, historical revisionism as a parlor game, drug hypocrisy, sentient citizens seeking shelter and the President’s pathetic attempt at a speech shoring up support and determined conviction inter alia, please find this the latest addition to the ether that is podcast. Subscription podcast, that is. And check out my YouTube Channel. Go ahead. We’ll wait.
I once read a Second DCA (Florida) case that defined a lie as a misrepresentation of the truth with the intent to deceive. How quaint. I’d like to add, especially as it affects our MSM, that a lie is the deliberate withholding of information. Or the withholding of information and a failure to conduct thorough reportage because of limited resources, funds, support or interest. Let’s throw into the mix a nescient, ignorant and lazy news audience who is rather loath to tackle the unsettling or that which inspires an uncomfortable reaction. Mix into the pot the latest crew, the debunkers, viz. those who scream “conspiracy theory” whenever something is advanced that causes critical thinking or disputes and lays bare a once-believed truth that turns out to be anything but. Our government shouldn’t care in the least about promulgating disinformation; that’s only necessary when a population cares about the issues in the first place.
If man were ever able to control and direct weather, what would the world look like? Is that even possible? Do you think that diabolical and brilliant scientific minds have thought about that? Keeping in mind that since time immemorial, man has tried to influence and control weather through prayer, sacrifice, rain dances, cloud seeding inter alia.
