LIONEL PODCAST: Terronoia, Model Planes, C4 & The Pentagon Again? Plus Anwar al-Awlaki is Killed. Again! BWAHAHA!

U.S. born Rezwan Ferdaus, from terrorist central Ashland, Massachusetts, was duped into thinking a harmless substance provided by the FBI undercover types was C-4 plastic explosives. They also gave Ferdaus six AK-47 assault rifles and three grenades, none which worked. Yet another schmuck brought down by G-men. He joins a veritable rogues gallery of dupes, dorks, rubes and fools who just can’t seem to get the terrorist act together. Note also how he plays into the newest theme of home-grown, American jihadis. Pay very close and particular attention to that.

With a straight face CBS news reported the following.

This undated photo released Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 by the U.S. Department of Justice shows a large remote controlled aircraft similar to what the department said suspect Rezwan Ferdaus plotted to fill with C-4 plastic explosives to use in an attack of the Pentagon and U.S. Capital. Ferdaus of Ashland, Mass., was arrested in a federal sting operation Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 in Framingham, Mass. (AP Photo/U.S. Department of Justice)

Puh-leeze. They also noted that experts and “model-aircraft hobbyists said it would be nearly impossible to inflict large-scale damage of the sort Ferdaus allegedly envisioned using model planes.” The toy planes are too small, have no payloads, can’t carry enough explosives and are too tricky to fly. Gee, d’ya think?

And to make things even more interesting al Qaeda bogeyman, the American-born Anwar al-Awlaki is reported to have been killed. Again since the first time he was killed in 2009 as a host of sources including the always accurate and fact-checked Fox News reported. Ron Paul and the ACLU each condemned the United States’ killing of the mysterious al-Awlaki, an American who’s never been so much as charged with any crime. Details, details.

You won’t hear Ted Baxter talking much about this much nor will he even venture an opinion as to the jurisdiction POTUS has for targeting an American citizen for assassination. If it happened. Again.

LIONEL PODDCAST: Law School’s In Session — The Conrad Murray Witch Hunt

Let me teach you to think and sound like a lawyer. In a good way, that is.

First, let’s ask the critical questions.

As to Dr. Conrad Murray, what is he charged with? How many counts? What’s the proof evinced (or intended to be evinced by the prosecution?) Is the defense technical (as in a battle of the experts) or factual (dispute as to facts established)? Is Dr. Murray claiming that Propofol was not the cause of death in that the amounts involved were de minimis? Is he alleging that there were intervening causes of Jackson’s death? Other causes (natural death, heart attack)?

The most pathetic coverage that exists anywhere on Mother Earth is HLN — Hype, Lunacy and Nutjobs. The den mother of this cable psych ward and juridical Boeotian in residence is Jane Velez Mitchell, the first person ever in recorded history who’s a recovering addict. She’s illustrative of the depths we’ve sunk to as a culture and species.

Herein, my thoughts on causation, culpability and criminal law. With a brief prolegomenon.

LIONEL PODCAST: Ted Baxter Media Phonies Should Be Arrested For Treason

The contempt that I have for media double agents is palpable and without limits. Cable and network “snooze” buffoons are agents of the government: stenographers who merely relay and repeat what they’re told and what they dutifully record. The days of Woodward and Bernstein are over. The investigative journalist is through. What passes as such is pabulum and approved corn pone. Vetted and redacted by the Feds. And the corporate controlled media are too scared to veer from that which they’re told.

Marshall McLuhan said that all media exist to invest our lives with artificial perceptions and arbitrary values. Hear! Hear!

LIONEL PODCAST: It’s Not A Police State. It’s A Military State. It’s Martial Law.

You’re being warned that there will be rioting in the streets. Prepare for civil unrest. Mayor Bloomberg is. He’s warning you and priming you. This is by design. It’s guaranteed now.

Mayor Bloomberg warned Friday there would be riots in the streets if Washington doesn’t get serious about generating jobs.

“We have a lot of kids graduating college, can’t find jobs,” Bloomberg said on his weekly WOR radio show.

“That’s what happened in Cairo. That’s what happened in Madrid. You don’t want those kinds of riots here.” NYDN

Martial law is the law temporarily imposed upon an area by state or national military forces when civil authority has broken down. Or when civil authority has given up, given in and merged with the military.

And in the mean time Posse Comitatus the 1878 federal statute that restricts the government’s ability to use the U.S. military as a police force. What we see now is Posse Comitatus in reverse.

Got tyranny?

LIONEL PODCAST: Perception Is Not Truth. There Is No Such Thing As Truth. It’s All An Illusion.

Let me use an analogy here, if I may. You’re undoubtedly familiar with the Moon Illusion. (N.B. An illusion versus an hallucination. Big difference, Cochise.)

It’s an optical illusion in which the Moon appears larger near the horizon than it does while higher in the sky. Same moon, same radius. So what gives? The illusion also occurs with the sun and star constellations. The cause and source of the illusion have been argued since Aristotle in the 4th Century BCE and are still being debated.

There are myriad hypotheses as to the Moon Illusion. One suggests that it is created by a conflict between the intuitive and rational parts of the brain. It’s depicted using an inverted Ponzo illusion as shown above. All four moons are the same size, yet on the left, the lower moon nearer to the horizon appears larger than the higher moon. [Source]

Why this moon babble? Simple, Evelyn. Everything that we observe and feel and believe, whether it’s faith-based, political, familial, anything and everything — all is based on perception. Perception implies that there are no absolutes, no certitudes. What you believe and think are based on perception. Plain and simple. And the good news is, if you don’t like the perception (or illusion) then change it.

LIONEL PODCAST: The Death Penalty Is Obscene

Nothing evinces our blood thirsty and pathetic side quite like the death penalty. When we froth at the mouth collectively and insist that the death penalty is warranted, effective, adequately and sufficiently protected by due process and appellate safeguards and that it is even biblically countenanced, we look like the savage rubes we really are.

Troy Davis’s execution caught the attention of many new death penalty opponents who were shocked at how much seemingly exculpatory evidence was discovered since his conviction and was being ignored. Ha! This must be their first rodeo. In our system of dungeons and dragons criminal justice, this is old news and sadly par for the course.

The only way to absolutely ensure that no one will ever be wrongfully executed under our slapdash system is to abolish the death penalty altogether.

Because you can’t appeal an execution.

Please take note.

I think that about sums it up. And now, my podcast thoughts.

LIONEL PODCAST: Stick To Your Guns, Tony! Don’t Back Down.

Prolegomenon: The key words here are provocation versus justification.

Tony Bennett in a Monday “radio” interview said inter alia that “[t]o start a war in Iraq was a tremendous, tremendous mistake internationally.” What’s more, Bennett dared question who were the actual perpetrators. “But who are the terrorists? Are we the terrorists or are they the terrorists? Two wrongs don’t make a right.”

And then, he did it. He dared to say this: “They flew the plane in, but we caused it. Because we were bombing them and they told us to stop.” Wow.

He then recalled an evening in 2005 when he was honored at the Kennedy Center. He said that Dubya himself shared his opinion about the Iraq War. “He told me personally that night that, he said, ‘I think I made a mistake,’” Bennett said, stating that he believed that POTUS made this revelation because “he had a special liking to me.”

I have a newfound respect for Tony Bennett as a man and as a citizen. He did, however, fail or refuse to mention the usual knee-jerk rote explanation that I’ve yet to understand to this day, viz. “they” hate our freedom. And ironically, this country whose freedom of speech the terrorists allegedly abhor now tells this brilliant singer and WWII infantry veteran that his opinion went too far.

Tony may have left his heart in Frisco, but his guts and elephantine cójones are intact. Well, sorta.

Yesterday he wrote on Facebook ”There is simply no excuse for terrorism and the murder of the nearly 3,000 innocent victims of the 9/11 attacks on our country.”

He added, “I am sorry if my statements suggested anything other than an expression of my love for my country, my hope for humanity and my desire for peace throughout the world.”

I wish he would have said instead, “You heard me the first time. I’m not backing down. It’s my opinion, goddammit!”

The freedom of expression is just an expression.

LIONEL PODCAST: The Witless Protection Program. Sheeple.

Why bother? Have you ever asked that question? I ask it all the time. Why do I even bother? Why bother trying to waken and alert? There’s a sense of comfort that folks have in believing the catechism of the official story about anything. And the Ted Baxter sockpuppet media don’t help.

The complexity of this problem is daunting. We’ve preconceived notions, biases, frames of reference fed through and by a corporate-controlled media that filter, edit and skew a narrowcasted information stream through a lasered prism.

But not to worry, these are fabulously fascinating times and notwithstanding the rigors of the foregoing, you and I will press on.

LIONEL PODCAST: Are You One Of Those Pathetic Twitter And Facebook Losers?

Join the club. Join the legions of incurious dolts who actually believe that people are following them on Twitter and that those ne’er-do-wells on Facebook are their friends. If this sounds like you, you’re pathetic and a loser and you know it. No wonder communication skills are lacking. No wonder people can’t speak any more. Look. They’re idiots. These micro-relationships have been interpreted as real and authentic. Piteous souls belching thoughts at the speed of drivel.

I predict that sooner than you think, all intrahuman communication will be relegated and reduced a series of grunts. Actual human contact will be replaced with solitary confinement cyber dreck. Goodbye language, speaking and the mother tongue. Goodbye civilization.

Join the club.
