LIONEL PODCAST: Let the Revolution Commence

The choice is simple and obvious. Of the above-referenced candidates, who would provide the greater resistance to following the orders of the Deep State, Shadow Government and Ruling Class? That’s your choice. Once you grasp that concept, you’ll know what to do. Abstain and move for revolution. Anon.

LIONEL PODCAST: Rejiggering Perception and the Collective Delusion of Connection

Straight talk. Beware. Confusing form over substance will be one of the cornerstones of the fall of the republic. Direct and honest discourse are not necessarily preferred if the message of direction is wrong and/or perilous. But we love a catchy phrase and pithy prose. It’s who we are. We live in boorish and churlish world of discourtesy and rudeness that we have transmogrified and shapeshifted into candor, verity and authenticity. Donald Trump creates, paves and constructs his own unnecessary speed bumps and that’s tragic. For him. Or whoever is taken in by the illusion of palpable choice in these elections.

LIONEL PODCAST: Behold the Systematic Destruction of Our Republic

Ignorance and nescience will kill us. Be not mistaken. It won’t be an extraneous force, nothing outside or foreign or beyond. Not Russia, China, imaginary terrorsists or intel-crafted bogeymen who hate our freedom and wish us ill. No, it will be through the concentrated and orchestrated mis- and disinformation efforts that occlude and obfuscate our worldview, that reduce elections to mindless popularity contests and voter initiatives on the irrelevant and inapposite. And who fuels this? Our Ted Baxter sockpuppet echo chamber cookie cutter bumper sticker media. And when it comes to distract and redirection, no one comes close to CNN. No one. Just look at the hoops they’ve jumped through just to cover up for Hillary’s obvious failing health, how they’ve systematically thrown everything at the American public in a pathetic attempt to distract, dissuade and divert. The personification of media rodeo clown.

But you already knew that.

LIONEL PODCAST: Mainstream Media News Produce Brainwashed, Habituated, Conditioned and Contaminated Sheeple

It’s by design. Edward R. Murrow warned, “A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.” And while it might be at first a tad difficult to imagine that that delightful anchor or reporter is a cog in the misinformation wheel. Media propel war and justify murder and destruction. They ask no questions and repeat rather than report.

They “preach this evangel.” You have most certainty have heard it. Howard Beale (Peter Finch), the mad and psychically distressed and monumentally exploited news presenter in the 1976 movie classic Network,  later murdered live on-screen upon the orders of execs for ratings, bellows and screams into history: “I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!” In a moment of clarification, Arthur Jensen (Ned Beatty), CCA Chairman, takes Beale to the corporate boardroom woodshed and explicates and limns “corporate cosmology” to Mr. Beale in this monumentally poignant scene.

You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won’t have it! Is that clear? You think you’ve merely stopped a business deal. That is not the case! The Arabs have taken billions of dollars out of this country, and now they must put it back! It is ebb and flow, tidal gravity! It is ecological balance! You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no third worlds. There is no West. There is only one holistic system of systems, one vast and immane, interwoven, interacting, multivariate, multinational dominion of dollars. Petro-dollars, electro-dollars, multi-dollars, reichmarks, rins, rubles, pounds, and shekels. It is the international system of currency which determines the totality of life on this planet. That is the natural order of things today. That is the atomic and subatomic and galactic structure of things today! And YOU have meddled with the primal forces of nature, and YOU… WILL… ATONE! Am I getting through to you, Mr. Beale? You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM, and ITT, and AT&T, and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today. What do you think the Russians talk about in their councils of state, Karl Marx? They get out their linear programming charts, statistical decision theories, minimax solutions, and compute the price-cost probabilities of their transactions and investments, just like we do. We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr. Beale. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable bylaws of business. The world is a business, Mr. Beale. It has been since man crawled out of the slime. And our children will live, Mr. Beale, to see that… perfect world… in which there’s no war or famine, oppression or brutality. One vast and ecumenical holding company, for whom all men will work to serve a common profit, in which all men will hold a share of stock. All necessities provided, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused. And I have chosen you, Mr. Beale, to preach this evangel.

It’s true. And it’s really that bad.

LIONEL PODCAST: The Purging, Routing, Gutting and Death of Radical Thinkers

A massive computer hack of George Soros’ Open Society Foundations suggests most poignantly that his various nonprofit organizations are effectively involved in the purging and silencing of independent and (perhaps) radical thinkers as well as those increasingly rare iconoclasts in the patent goal of stripping the liberal class of its once glorious and necessary vitality. And why has this flown below the collective radar? Because today’s Ted Baxter media are throttled by greater existential threats such as shuttering newsrooms, a cayalclysmic loss of intellectual and journalistic talent and being relegated to repeaters versus reporters.

ˈradək(ə)l/ — adjective
1. (especially of change or action) relating to or affecting the fundamental nature of something; far-reaching or thorough.

The idea has escaped us. Worse the import. Below please find as the great John Frasca said “thoughts while thinking.”

  • With each successive election the issues and relevant causes become less important and less referenced. Our republic is confusing patellar reaction and visceral oomph with plan, platform and perspective. This, of course, is exacerbated by design by a pathetic and cruel mainstream Ted Baxter media who repeat the tropes and memes of their corporate rulers, the pawns of neoliberal fascist tyrants.
  • So many Trump acolytes reference and exhibit an anomie, making them especially susceptible and vulnerable to mass traction propaganda.
  • Where are my progressive friends who look the other way as to the unrelenting neoliberal assault on the working poor?
  • Naive liberals actually believe they can mount effective resistance within the Nurse Ratched embrace of the Democratic Party.
  • America follows a persistent policy of Wehrwirtschaft by duping American sheeple into thinking each war is warranted, necessary and noble.
  • Where are those adorable 60s long-haired peaceniks flashing their annoyingly ubiquitous peace signs? Voting for Hillary. Bwahahahaha!
  • Who funds wars, drafts legislation, criminalizes dissent? Who rules these intellectually barren news media?
  • The gullible American voter is disenfranchised and laboring under a delusion of control by playing elections with two caricatures.
  • The only issue to be addressed and why I don’t vote is the seizure of our political and economic structure by corporations.
  • Never underestimate Trump as they did Radovan Karadžic and Slobodan Miloševic in Yugoslavia.
  • There’s an immutable fact that one should realize: Most people are profoundly full of shit. Once you master that, you’re aces.
  • Even Hillary’s most ardent admirers miss the point that she’s taking time off and resting because she’s gravely ill.
  • We may have cracked the mentality configuration of the Trump minion. As Émile Durkheim, French sociologist and social philosopher noted, “The individual can maintain himself in a society definitely organized only through possessing an equally definite mental and moral constitution. This is what the neuropath lacks. His state of disturbance causes him to be constantly taken by surprise by circumstances.” See?
  • Russell Jacoby: “The general loss of memory is not to be explained solely psychologically; it is not simply childhood amnesia. Rather it is social amnesia—memory driven out of mind by the social and economic dynamic of this society.”

LIONEL PODCAST: It’s Time to Overthrow the Sheeple Media

It’s hard to quantify the contamination of free thought that your mainstream media have exacted on this grand republic. But I’ll give it a hearty shot. The primary culprit is the cold-blooded impuissance and intellectual surrender. Perfidy meets mindless fecklessness. Sheeple plain and brutally simple.

Beware the social media mob. Gustave Le Bon spake: “Crowds, being incapable both of reflection and of reasoning, are devoid of the notion of improbability; and it is to be noted that in a general way it is the most improbable things that are the most striking.” Thank you for lending a cocked and inquisitive ear.

“The National parties and their presidential candidates, with the Eastern Establishment assiduously fostering the process behind the scenes, moved closer together and nearly met in the center with almost identical candidates and platforms, although the process was concealed as much as possible, by the revival of obsolescent or meaningless war cries and slogans (often going back to the Civil War).” — Carroll Quigley, Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time (New York: Macmillan, 1966), pp. 1247-1248.

LIONEL PODCAST: How Jon Stewart Wannabes Destroyed Political Critical Thinking

Can you spot the difference? One of these is part of a trained circus act doubling as entertainment that some observers have even considered to be inhumane and exploitative in fact. The other is a seal. But be not mistaken, Jon Stewart is the king of timing. Had he attempted the Stewart bit now, it wouldn’t have taken off. And success is in great part due to his 300+ writers who gave us such gems as, “The Internet is just a world passing around notes in a classroom.” Wow. Move over Mort Sahl. Leibowitz is in the room. But what he did was spawn teams of JS wannabes who confuse mean and juvenescent snark with piquant and poignant political analysis. Or something.

Analysis is dead. Reaction is paramount. Snide jibes and slams. Inordinate focus on quotes, miscues and flubs. Bad hair, bad marriages, cankles, bags and Mao jackets. And I blame him. The gravamen of my indictment stems from his success. And with success come imitators and wannabes responding in kind, shadowing and replicating the master. The master who’s been resurrected to salvage Mr. Colbert.

LIONEL PODCAST: Crowd Psychology and Media Distortion, Fabrication, Manufacture and Lie

How I see mainstream media news.

Believing ≠ Hoping. Look at what you believe you believe and what you know you know. You don’t. You wish and hope and trust. There’s a big difference, Sparky.

The lies your being handed are by design. “When distant and unfamiliar and complex things are communicated to great masses of people, the truth suffers a considerable and often a radical distortion. The complex is made over into the simple, the hypothetical into the dogmatic, and the relative into an absolute.” Thus spake Walter Lippmann.

It’s about perception an awareness. It’s about what you think you know. And what those who know think. You think? We’re a country whose history is immersed in propaganda. Hedges provides this splendid piece.

In order to bring America into an unpopular war, Woodrow Wilson created the first system of modern mass-propaganda—the Creel Committee. It drew on “crowd psychology”, pioneered by Gustave Le Bon, Wilfred Trotter, Sigmund Freud and others, suggesting that people were not moved by appeals to reason but by emotional manipulation—what Walter Lippmann called “manufacturing consent”. Debs ended up in prison [for opposing the war] and after the war many of these people went off to Madison Avenue to work for corporations. They upended traditional American values of thrift and self-effacement and replaced them with the cult of the self, hedonism and consumption presented as an inner compulsion. [Christopher Hedges]

LIONEL PODCAST: The Most Despicable Election in American History

“News is what a chap who doesn’t care much about anything wants to read. And it’s only news until he’s read it. After that it’s dead.” Evelyn Waugh

America. The republic, usually misunderstood as a democracy. Where anyone with a pair of neurons and a functioning synapse can vote. Or not. We love the simple issue. Basic. Tissue thin and unidimensional. Trite and uncomplicated. The meme, the phrase. The ribbon, the hashtag the filter. The rote, the memorized, the patellar and Pavlovian. The rehearsed but never researched. Revisionist history and popular culture. Overarching themes. A country that confuses religious faith and piety with mythology and superstition. Uneducated, uncultured and uncouth. America loves to hate, its public and loud alleged aversion to hate notwithstanding. We love to hate the candidates, the networks, the talk radio loudmouths, the other side. We hate them, the opposition. We hate the Bible thumper and leftie loon. We hate the gun owner and gun advocate and gun fanatic. N.B. The fanatic. Translation: someone who expresses a belief or penchant for an idea or practice that we don’t understand or agree with. The other guy. Terrorist = the other guy. Impuissant and gutless leftie and liberal = the other guy. Right wing lunatic = the other guy.

Hillary and Trump are both candidates and code words and attack commands, signaling the recitation of the usual statements from the usual suspects. We delude ourselves into thinking that our debates are rational and comprehensive and fact-based and well-thought. It’s not so much that we have a position, it’s that we loathe and detest the proponents of the other side, the other position. America loves to coopt issues that redefine vagueness and make it an art form. One faction has taken as its own the fight against gun violence, as though anyone could possibly be in favor of it. Another faction wraps itself in the Constitutional without so much as a correspondence course in basic historical precepts and rudiments. Doesn’t mater, I seized the image first, it’s mine. Out of a republic with 319 million people we have as presumptive candidates two of the most vile, despicable and unworthy kakistocrats that central casting could have ever created if not hatched. We get what we deserve. And though our republic will endure and survive – after all, we came through the Franklin Pierce years relatively unscathed – prospering and advancing are another issue altogether. These are dark days for Americans but an absolute gold mine for those of us who make our living through political commentary and analysis.

LIONEL PODCAST: Putrid and Corrupt Hillary Media Sellouts and Clueless Children Who Vote With Their Arse

This approximates the problem. It’s much worse. It fails to take into account the role that the media play in softening up our collective psyche. Our beloved republic is witnessing a disintegration of the Left. The necessary counterbalance. A viable vision of direction. We’re unable to appreciate neoliberalism and statist perversions camouflaging as platform. No clue as to class warfare. We’re prisoners of an autocratic oligarchy. But don’t hurt our feelings or abrade our think skin. The SJWs will find you and you’ll taste their wrath.

“Oh, little snowflakes, when did you all become grandmothers and society matrons, clutching your pearls in horror at someone who has an opinion about something, a way of expressing themselves that’s not the mirror image of yours, you sniveling little weak-ass narcissists?” Bret Easton Ellis

We’re a silly lot. We love to pretend we’re informed. But nary a clue have we. Except when it comes to sports. Oh, we’re most deft and adept and adroit at parsing the issues and waxing authoritative. But who’s really in charge? Who runs the show?

Banksters, Sparky. “The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. . . . You have owners.” (George Carlin, The American Dream)  Hillary Clinton is a Wall Steet shill, puppet and warmonger. When did our predacious imperialism become manifest? “Making the world safe for democracy” was President Woodrow Wilson’s rationale for World War I, and it has been used to justify American military intervention ever since. Can we justify sending troops into other countries to spread a political system we cannot maintain at home? (Ellen Brown)

“When I was in high school I asked myself at one point: “Why do I care if my high school’s team wins the football game? I don’t know anybody on the team, they have nothing to do with me… why am I here and applaud? It does not make any sense.” But the point is, it does make sense: It’s a way of building up irrational attitudes of submission to authority and group cohesion behind leadership elements. In fact it’s training in irrational jingoism. That’s also a feature of competitive sports.” (Chomsky)
