Another Year!

The enormity of the BP disaster is nonpareil and knows no comparison. Our MSM try their best to cover the story but are limited and strictured greatly because of the paucity of groovy graphics that are available. Zeus forbid a thorough, open-ended discussion without frill and video gimcrack. But it distracts us from our feigned interest in World Cup soccer and the latest drivel so we lose interest. Pass this on to others.

Joe Barton: Psychopath

I am not a psychiatrist and not wont to finish statements like that with “and don’t play one on TV.” But I have always been interested in the rarely-cited trait of psychopaths: the inability to appreciate consequence. While the usual suspects and hyper partisan DEMS-NBC repeat without surcease Barton’s insane comments that POTUS’s brokered settlement with BP was a shakedown, I submit that a reason for such a statement is a trait of Barton and most successful pols, viz. he’s a psychopath. Not the murderous, serial killer type. They in fact are the minority.

It’s the person who is so fueled by a pathological impulsivity that he can’t button his lip or realize that the sentiment — which has a gram of truth to it, let’s be fair — he expresses will fall on media deaf ears and has grave political consequences. So tethered to oil interests is Barton and so keen was he on reminding them of his Pavlovian obeisance that he ended up with an apologia and act of contrition to the very folks whose negligence may have destroyed portions of our environment to an extent unimagined.

Neuroscientists are examining and studying this trait of the psychopath in greater detail.

Previous research on psychopathy has focused on what these individuals lack — fear, empathy and interpersonal skills. The new research, however, examines what they have in abundance — impulsivity, heightened attraction to rewards and risk taking. Importantly, it is these latter traits that are most closely linked with the violent and criminal aspects of psychopathy. [Source]

I’m just saying … .

They Warned Us.

Not since Shinola has a corporate image been so tarnished, so quickly. And Shinola was the innocent victim of a bad joke. BP earned it the old fashioned way.

Pardon my language, but it’s true. Torquemada they ain’t. What a complete and absolute waste of time today’s “grilling” was of BP exec Tony Hayward. This was grandstanding plain and simple. The congressional interrogators made speeches and Hawyward got off untouched and unscathed. Nothing landed BECA– USE THEY NEVER ASKED ANY QUESTIONS! The goal was simple: make Hayward squirm and wax PO’d for constituents back home. They actually thought they “sliced and diced” Ol’ Tony. Oh, there were some great moments but not from him. He kept his mouth shut. Nothing he said could be used later against him or BP because he never said anything. Catch him in a lie. Have him explain in particular. But no, this was bush league. Even Bush wouldn’t have been as bush league.
