LIONEL PODCAST: The Most Despicable Election in American History

“News is what a chap who doesn’t care much about anything wants to read. And it’s only news until he’s read it. After that it’s dead.” Evelyn Waugh

America. The republic, usually misunderstood as a democracy. Where anyone with a pair of neurons and a functioning synapse can vote. Or not. We love the simple issue. Basic. Tissue thin and unidimensional. Trite and uncomplicated. The meme, the phrase. The ribbon, the hashtag the filter. The rote, the memorized, the patellar and Pavlovian. The rehearsed but never researched. Revisionist history and popular culture. Overarching themes. A country that confuses religious faith and piety with mythology and superstition. Uneducated, uncultured and uncouth. America loves to hate, its public and loud alleged aversion to hate notwithstanding. We love to hate the candidates, the networks, the talk radio loudmouths, the other side. We hate them, the opposition. We hate the Bible thumper and leftie loon. We hate the gun owner and gun advocate and gun fanatic. N.B. The fanatic. Translation: someone who expresses a belief or penchant for an idea or practice that we don’t understand or agree with. The other guy. Terrorist = the other guy. Impuissant and gutless leftie and liberal = the other guy. Right wing lunatic = the other guy.

Hillary and Trump are both candidates and code words and attack commands, signaling the recitation of the usual statements from the usual suspects. We delude ourselves into thinking that our debates are rational and comprehensive and fact-based and well-thought. It’s not so much that we have a position, it’s that we loathe and detest the proponents of the other side, the other position. America loves to coopt issues that redefine vagueness and make it an art form. One faction has taken as its own the fight against gun violence, as though anyone could possibly be in favor of it. Another faction wraps itself in the Constitutional without so much as a correspondence course in basic historical precepts and rudiments. Doesn’t mater, I seized the image first, it’s mine. Out of a republic with 319 million people we have as presumptive candidates two of the most vile, despicable and unworthy kakistocrats that central casting could have ever created if not hatched. We get what we deserve. And though our republic will endure and survive – after all, we came through the Franklin Pierce years relatively unscathed – prospering and advancing are another issue altogether. These are dark days for Americans but an absolute gold mine for those of us who make our living through political commentary and analysis.

LIONEL PODCAST: Putrid and Corrupt Hillary Media Sellouts and Clueless Children Who Vote With Their Arse

This approximates the problem. It’s much worse. It fails to take into account the role that the media play in softening up our collective psyche. Our beloved republic is witnessing a disintegration of the Left. The necessary counterbalance. A viable vision of direction. We’re unable to appreciate neoliberalism and statist perversions camouflaging as platform. No clue as to class warfare. We’re prisoners of an autocratic oligarchy. But don’t hurt our feelings or abrade our think skin. The SJWs will find you and you’ll taste their wrath.

“Oh, little snowflakes, when did you all become grandmothers and society matrons, clutching your pearls in horror at someone who has an opinion about something, a way of expressing themselves that’s not the mirror image of yours, you sniveling little weak-ass narcissists?” Bret Easton Ellis

We’re a silly lot. We love to pretend we’re informed. But nary a clue have we. Except when it comes to sports. Oh, we’re most deft and adept and adroit at parsing the issues and waxing authoritative. But who’s really in charge? Who runs the show?

Banksters, Sparky. “The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. . . . You have owners.” (George Carlin, The American Dream)  Hillary Clinton is a Wall Steet shill, puppet and warmonger. When did our predacious imperialism become manifest? “Making the world safe for democracy” was President Woodrow Wilson’s rationale for World War I, and it has been used to justify American military intervention ever since. Can we justify sending troops into other countries to spread a political system we cannot maintain at home? (Ellen Brown)

“When I was in high school I asked myself at one point: “Why do I care if my high school’s team wins the football game? I don’t know anybody on the team, they have nothing to do with me… why am I here and applaud? It does not make any sense.” But the point is, it does make sense: It’s a way of building up irrational attitudes of submission to authority and group cohesion behind leadership elements. In fact it’s training in irrational jingoism. That’s also a feature of competitive sports.” (Chomsky)

LIONEL PODCAST: The Corrupt Shillary Media and the Hijacking of the 2016 Election

Devoid of message and vision. But plenty of feigned mirth and overreaction. Loaded with schmaltz and hype. Contrived merriment and infectious glee substituting for a determined plot and plan. The first woman, the progressive, her turn – whatever. But never a word about qualifications, record and platform. Though she does have “experience.” As Willie Sutton had banking experience, I suppose. And all the while her bought and paid for media apparatchiks are doubling down in trying to bait the field and lay as many red herrings as possible in their role as rodeo clowns and diverters.

Wanted: New CNN Booking Producer. Watch Smerconish’s patented vacant stare become decidedly more pronounced when Dr. Stephen Cohen, professor emeritus of Russian studies at NYU and Princeton, educates the lad on this thing called history. Herein were his most poignant comments.

Cohen says the media at large is doing a huge disservice to the American people by ignoring the substance of Trump’s arguments about NATO and Russia, and buying the Clinton campaign’s simplistic smear that Trump is a Russian “Manchurian candidate.”

“That reckless branding of Trump as a Russian agent, most of it is coming from the Clinton campaign,” Cohen said. “And they really need to stop.”

“We’re approaching a Cuban Missile Crisis level nuclear confrontation with Russia,” he explained. “And there is absolutely no discussion, no debate, about this in the American media.”

“Then along comes, unexpectedly, Donald Trump,” he continued, “Who says he wants to end the New Cold War, and cooperate with Russia in various places… and –astonishingly– the media is full of what only can be called neo-McCarthyite charges that he is a Russian agent, that he is a Manchurian candidate, and that he is Putin’s client.”

“This is a moment when there should be, in a presidential year, a debate,” he said. “And that is not what we are given in the media today.”

“Let’s go back to what you said Trump said about NATO,” Cohen also said. “Trump said early on, he wanted to know, 60 years after its foundation, what was NATO’s mission today. 100 policy wonks in Washington since the end of the Soviet Union, 25 years ago, have asked the same question. Is NATO an organization in search of a mission?”

“That’s a legitimate question –but we don’t debate it. We don’t ask it. We just say, oh, Trump wants to abandon NATO.”

LIONEL PODCAST: A Corrupt and Vile Candidate, DNC Leaks Focus Doom, Let’s Blame Russia, Debbie’s Sick Betrayal, Millennials Double Crossed by Bernie, Bankrupt Policies and Distracted Vision

It’s mind boggling the treachery and perfidy that’s now become a bloodsport. Behold the uncut version of “Debbie Does DNC” – well, was supposed to. Thrown under the bus, tossed aside and sacrificed. Yanked from her platform but repackaged as an HRC higher-up. Blatant and hiding in plain sight. Simply amazing. Media apparatchiks double down on pro-HDR defense and excuses. Memes and tropes, images and flashbacks. Keep the folks confused. Prestidigitation and political sleight of hand. Watch the jiggling keys, crying baby. Just watch Queen Hillary. It’s her show, her party and her rules. As was attributed to Иосиф Сталин, “Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.” You’re being played, suckas.
