Try teaching a child today the nobility of humility or explaining why self-aggrandizement and bragging aren’t conducive to a brave and productive soul. Try all of that with social media. Try explaining to a young woman that taking bathroom mirror selfies is depravity writ large.
For over a year and a quarter through processes we’ll never understand and through systems of thinking incomprehensible, we delivered psychic systematic damage to our school-age children profound and permanent. Let me put it this way, you have no idea how screwed up we made them.
Social media provide many young women with the belief that they are the first to ever give birth. It never happened before them. Every pain and humorous observation, everything they experience happened to them and only them for the first time with their first pregnancy.
I’ll let you love everyone and celebrate the human spirit. Have at it. As for me there isn’t a day that goes by when I am not profoundly reminded of how horrible and terrible and brutal human beings are. Where all of this goodness is, I’m still looking.
