It All Changes Even When Everything Stays the Same

05 NOV 2026.

The controversy surrounding House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries raises an uncomfortable question about Washington’s relationship with Big Tech. While Democrats routinely promise to protect consumers, children and personal privacy from powerful technology companies, corporate political spending raises questions about whether those same companies enjoy privileged access to the politicians responsible for regulating them. The issue is not simply whether donations are legal. It is whether political influence undermines meaningful accountability. Americans deserve to know whose interests their elected representatives prioritize when corporate profits collide with public safety.

Futurism reports that Jeffries received substantial support from executives associated with military artificial intelligence contractor Anduril and surveillance technology giant Palantir. Two Anduril executives reportedly contributed nearly $150,000 to his fundraising committees while a Palantir government affairs executive contributed $44,300. Cryptocurrency interests and major investment firms also appear among his supporters. These contributions do not establish wrongdoing. They do, however, expose the uncomfortable bipartisan reality of corporate political influence. Republicans and Democrats may campaign as bitter enemies, but powerful technology interests frequently finance both sides. The question is whether voters actually control Washington or merely choose which politicians answer to the same wealthy donors.

Hakeem Jeffries Is Bankrolled by the Most Controversial Tech Companies in Existence

The incoming House speaker’s blue-wave mandate will be no match for the Democrat’s powerful tech industry allies.

Everything But The Girl, the British duo of Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, emerged in the early 1980s with a sophisticated blend of jazz, folk, soul and understated pop. “Young and Dumb” captures their early sound, featuring Thorn’s distinctive, intimate vocals and the duo’s thoughtful songwriting. Their music rejected the excesses of mainstream pop in favor of emotional honesty and elegant arrangements. They later achieved international success with “Missing,” transforming themselves into electronic music innovators while retaining the sensitivity and intelligence that distinguished their earliest recordings.
