LIONEL PODCAST: Dale Earnhardt Died 10 Years Ago Today. Show Some Respect, Boy!

Dale Earnhardt died today ten years ago. And if you don’t know the name, you should be ashamed of yourself. He was NASCAR. NASCAR is America. Applying the transitive property, Dale Earnhardt was America. And a bunch of effete snobs love to chortle over what they perceive NASCAR, this wildly popular pastime enjoyed by millions, to be. NASCAR is quintessentially American. Sunday is its Super Bowl, the Daytona 500, which, interestingly enough, begins the 2011 season.

Randy Owen was the incredible lead singer of the incredible group Alabama. Here’s his tribute in this albeit poorly recorded video. But you feel the passion and sincerity in his voice.

America gave us NASCAR, pro wrestling, bullriding, country music, the cowboy and the outlaw motorcycle dude. And Hee Haw, one of the most successful syndicated TV shows in the history of television.

Take that, snotty, elitist America. You’re outnumbered. By us rednecks.
